I realised over a period of time that my hearing was deteriorating, struggling to hear clearly conversations in various environments at home, in small groups, at meetings, especially with softly spoken people.
On a recent holiday, a land tour with a small group I struggled to hear information from the guide.
On return I realised it was time to seek advise and after researching together with a recommendation contacted Trousdale Ear Care.
They have an excellent web site for information and appointments.
After thorough examination and following the recommendation, I now have vastly improved hearing and confidence in all aspects of every day life.
Alex has the experience and qualifications, very good facilities in Scalby, easy access and parking.
If you think your hearing is a problem would recommend an initial examination.

I have had hearing difficulties since the 1990's when tinnitus became intrusive instead of occasional, most likely related to working in noisy factories in the 70's before hearing protection was better understood.
I had a few different aids of increasing strength, and when the first digital aids were available on the NHS I was lucky enough to get some. These were great for couple of years but gradually became less effective as my hearing changed. When one of them stopped working altogether, there was a long wait time for an appointment. I decided to bite the bullet and go private again, and am very glad that I did. I looked around and chose Trousdale Ear Care primarily because of the personal service - it's not a high street chain with a different person every time.
Alex spent a lot of time testing and measuring, and recommended what seemed to be expensive aids, but given that I now depend on them for fifteen hours a day every day, they really are worth every penny. I used to be continually asking people to repeat things and am very glad to leave that behind. But for me the biggest benefit is being able to enjoy music again after many years of thinking I would not be able to.
Alex is thorough, patient, unhurried and knowledgeable, and nothing is too much trouble. I am happy to recommend Trousdale to anyone thinking of getting help with their hearing.

I realised over a number of years that my hearing was deteriorating. Increasing television volume necessary, but most importantly I was missing more and more of conversations, especially in a crowded environment like a bar or the clubhouse.
I hesitated to get some help as it had crept up on me gradually and when it became severe enough to think I really needed to do something I was very hesitant as I thought that the hearing aids would be unsightly.
I chose Trousdale Ear Care as I knew Alex and his family personally but also as I had heard such excellent reviews of his work.
Since having my hearing aids, which are nearly invisible when in, I can hear better than I have done for many years. I have audio equipment at 'normal' levels and find social interaction much easier and more inclusive. I never leave them out and still notice the benefits every day.
In terms of recommending Trousdale Ear Care for anyone considering taking the step to better hearing I cannot speak highly enough about the service and care provided. Alex was honest and helpful in all the initial discussions and gave me a choice of devices to suit my needs. I had previously been to the high street providers for tests and discussions and I can honestly say there is no comparison.
For anyone considering seeking help with hearing loss, Alex should be your first call.

I struggled with my hearing for a few years, but always thought I just had a wax build up and ignored it. Over the last couple of years, I had to really focus on people talking to me and lip read. In my 30s I never thought it would be hearing loss so just carried on with normal life.
I work in a salon and would misunderstand what people said to me, I missed conversations in social situations, I couldn't take a phone call, I was not able to hear my baby crying in the night, I was not able to make out what my little boy wanted. It was then I contacted Alex for an appointment for an assessment, which I thought he'd tell me I needed wax removal. Instead, I was told I had severe hearing loss and would benefit from hearing aids. This was hard to accept in my 30s that I needed to wear hearing aids. But Alex went above and beyond, there was no pressure to get my hearing aids from him, in fact he referred me to the NHS but after a year on the waiting list I decided to go back to Alex.
I tried different hearing aids; I had several appointments to adjust and get used to my hearing aids. I wasn't ready to wear hearing aids in my 30s but I didn't realise how much I had missed. This has made a huge difference to my life, I can now hear my baby when she wants me, listen to my little boy’s stories, be in a social situation and not have to lip read, hear my clients when at work.
I was very embarrassed about my hearing aids at first but now they are a part of me and I can finally hear. If you feel like you're struggling to hear, please don't leave it too long like I did, I missed out on so much. Alex is amazing and will be happy to help.

I started to suffer with hearing loss about four or five years ago and it really started to massively impact my life within the last two or three years so I knew I had to do something about it.
When exploring the avenues for what I could do to help with this it came very daunting when reading through what was out there and the impact it would have on my life.
You were very helpful, and listening to what I needed and why I was worried about and made me feel at ease and guided me in making the best decision for myself and my life.
The hearing aid has allowed me to be able to respond better and hear my environment better and feel more involved with my surroundings and actually hear people more clearly.
I would recommend Alex to anyone; he will listen to your needs and what you are worried about and any questions you want answers for and tell you what the best options are for your needs.
